First World War Roadshow

A First World War Roadshow event will be held at Banbury Museum on Saturday November 3rd 2012.  Members of the public are invited to bring their documents, artefacts and stories from the First World War to be added to the Europeana 1914-1918 online archive.

Project staff from the University of Oxford and Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum will be on hand to digitise and talk about the objects and add these and the stories to the website. Subject experts and representatives from historical associations and societies will be present to help people learn more about their objects and family history.

The stories and digital versions of the objects will be available for people across the world to enjoy via the Europeana 1914-1918 website, while the items themselves remain with their owners.

Hi i have no idea if im on to the right thing but i was just wondering about a book i have , its a red hardbook cover book and on the front it says The Great national Roll of world war 1 , Bradford IX . the book contains names of the soldiers who joined up and were they got shipped off to . wondering if u have any imfomation onit would be helpfull the book is very old .

    1. ‘The National Roll of the Great War 1914-1918′ is a series of 14 volumes published after the war. Each volume contains brief biographies of (some of) the men and women from a particular region who took part in the war. You can find some more information about the publication on the websites listed below where you can also search an online database of all the volumes. I cannot say anything about the potential value of your book – if you want to know I suggest you ask someone dealing in rare books.
